Canberra
The city is built around Lake Burley Griffin, which was named after the American architect who won the contract to design Australia's Capital. Most of the attractions are built around the lake and it has the usual gamut of accommodation and city tours. This is a great place to do all your bussing around. With so many National Monuments, you will need a guide. My favourites, the Anzac War Memorial, The National Library, Parliament House, and the Australian National Art Gallery. Put aside 3 days to see it all. I would highly recommend it for a good look at the heart of Australian Politics.
