Tasmania
Tasmania, The island state to the south is a 1 hour flight from Melbourne, a 12 hour cruise from the Port of Melbourne, or a good 2 day sail on a yacht, so transport to Tasmania is not a problem.
Separated from the mainland by the southern waters known as Bass Strait, what you will find in Tasmania will surprise you. The state of Tasmania is approximately 68,000 square kilometres wide, and has two main island groups to the north, those being Flinders and King Island.
A clean and unspoilt land is what Tasmania is probably the best lifestyle around. A diverse landscape which offers some of the best hiking in the country, with scenery that will leave you breathless, and the nicest people that the Australia has to offer. The Hospitality of Tasmanians is mighty and I will never forget the time that we spent on this remote and rugged island.
The two main cities are Hobart, the state capital, to the south and Launceston to the north. Both are glorious and offer that old world charm that is rarely found in cities.
This island state is home to some of the country's best national parks with the highlight being Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National park. With Tasmania being so small, and with the excellent road conditions, travelling around this island is easy. Approximately 1/3rd of the state is National Park including the World Heritage Listed Wilderness Area in the South West Corner of the state.
