Broome
Once a major pearling town, Broome now enjoys the label of the tropical paradise of the west and the gateway to the Kimberleys. Back in the 1920's over 300 pearling boats hugged the wharves but today only a handful still dive for pearls. It enjoys tropical weather all year round and has a variety of styles of accommodation. The most popular is the Cable Beach Club and is fondly regarded as Australia's best kept holiday secret. (Not any more). The coast known as the Kimberley coast offers divers one of the least known, but best dive areas in the world.
