The Bungle Bungle Ranges
The Bungle Bungle Ranges are one of Australia's most scenic wonders. Large sandstone boulders abound in this timeless land. Access to this remote part of Australia is still by 4WD, but scenic flying and walking tours are available.
The track into the Bungle Bungles winds its way through many gorges and criss-crosses across the ranges into the very heart of the Kimberleys. Once across the last range, on top of the ridge you will find yourself quite stunned with amazement. The view and beauty of the great massif is awe inspiring. Continuing on down the road to the 3 ways junction, a turn to the left will take you to Echidna Gorge and the Currajong campground.
The trek through the gorge takes approximately 1 hour and Livistonia palm fronds add a shade of green to the red barren landscape of The Logistics - 175 km south of Kununurra. Once you have turned of the main north south highway it takes approximately 5 hours to travel the 55 kilometre's to the 3 ways junction. Travel well and be prepared. It's rough country out here. If you do not wish to rough it, base yourself at Kununurra and take a tour.
